It's All Happening and then some
I've been wanting to write a real post ever since the night before last. Today, however, everything is once again changed. I got up early today and worked all day on my MGB. I won't indulge with the back story about the car and how I got it, but I will say that two days ago a man stopped and asked if we would sell it. At that point I realized that out of all the cars we own, that was the one car I really didn't want to sell. Well, If I'm not selling then I better start fixing and driving and enjoying. I got up today and did just that. By tomorrow night, or least as soon as it takes the paint to dry, I will have a new white convertible top on her. I'm stripping the frame right now, tomorrow I hope to prime and paint it, and then I can attach the new white top I have to it. I have really big plans for this car. I want to get it painted a butter yellow (similar to the mellow yellow on the VW New Beetle or Doc's car in "Back To The Future"). Whoever had it painted last had a clear coat put on it and that is starting to peel. Anyway, it will be butter yellow with a white top and a tan/black interior. The tires on it now have white walls on the other side so I plan to have those turned around where the white wall will show. Also, it already had a radio in it so it has speakers and all the proper wiring, which means I can get a newer radio for it (with a CD player and an MP3 plug in). Lucky for me MGs are one of the easiest cars to spruce up b/c there are gobs of catalogues for parts. Anything you could ever need, including interiors, which thankfully come in easy to install kits (carpet kits, upholstery kits, dash boards, lights, etc.) Ok, yeah that's a lot of work and a lot of money, but in the end it will cost me about a 1/3 (maybe even less) of the money I would need to even think about buying a newer car. I was thinking about the silver lining of this situation today and here are some things I came up with. I will have no car notes; I will only have to pay for my car...
