Go to your furnace or the wall register close by it and change that filter. I’ve been in houses where the filter has literally never been changed. What happens when you don’t change your filter, or never do, is…
that the blower motor will be running but can’t get enough air flow and the motor can burn up.
the air conditioner will freeze up because the freon can’t get proper air flow to change state and will send liquid back to your compressor slugging it with liquid and eventually killing it
something will get through your clogged and useless filter and throw your blower wheel out of balance eventually making the wheel rip out of its welds or worse, taking out the whole blower assembly, or worste of all, taking out the whole furnace
you will not get proper airflow
your electric bill will be higher
your air will be dirty and stagnant
AND ALL THAT JUST BY NOT CHANGING YOUR FILTER!
so change your filter today, or even better, get on a maintenance agreement with your local hvac company. they’ll change the filter for you and tune up your entire system. i highly recommend it. but every company is different, every company offers special rates, and even more when it comes to changeouts. did you know that most hvac companies offer a 10 to 15 percent discount on replacements if you have a maintenance agreement? think about how valuable that is on a $3,000 air conditioner replacement.
so do yourself a favor, and change it. because 5 more years of not having to replace your system, will definitely have your wallet thanking you.
