Are you able to safely use direct current on a simple oil-filled radiator type space heater that is now ac?

Can a simple 12 or 24 v (direct current) be put thru a radiator type heater instead of the original 110v ac without doing damage and safely without possibility of fire?
112V or 24V will not produce much heat
2if there are devices like a fan motor it will burn out or transformer for electronics
3if 120V DC, the switch (thermostat) will catch on fire because DC arc is very difficult to extinguish…
