Toasty heat the old school way. Works great, super quiet, and no dusty filters to change. Just keep an eye on the water level, and you're A-OK ...
K went to bed around 8 (more on that in a second), woke up at 4:30, and then slept until 8 this morning. That’s one of her most amazing sleeps on recent record, which is even more impressive considering the fact that her room is without space heater so it’s chilly in there at night. (Her room is the furthest from the furnace, so we bought an oil-filled radiator to toastify it, but one of the fins started to leak so we had to send out for a replacement and it’s still not here!)
So, this morning, Katie woke up and was smiling HUGELY when B and I walked into her room. I picked her up and she started hugging me, and then we sat in a recliner for a good 15 minutes while she cuddled with me, playing with my hair and hugging me. It was so sweet, especially considering the fact that she’s a busy little toddler these days who barely has time to look at me other than to say, “No!” or to ask for something. :)
A quick update on sleep: B and I have been working on K falling asleep without us in the room. When we switched from nursing to sleep, to nursing after the bath and Daddy putting K down in her crib, K showed us she was able to fall asleep without Mommy. However, we would sit in there until she fell asleep, including in he middle of the night (I usually acquiesce to nursing her if she wakes up after 3 or so)… meaning that we made a makeshift bed on the floor for the late night wake-ups.
Well, pregnant Mommy quite can’t take sleeping on the floor anymore, so we started “dropping her off” last week — and it’s doing amazingly well! Last night B wasn’t sure she’d stay laying down, but she did, and then at the 4 wake-up I nursed her, kissed her, and lay her down, and while I did hear her talking to herself, she never cried for me. I am SO happy that we’ve taken this step-wise approach to her sleep, because she’s naturally acclimated to every change with nary a peep. (Crying related to sleep is something that doesn’t work for me at all.)
