What do I do if my graphics cards fan suddenly slows down and starts making a ton of noise?

I have a Radeon x800 graphics card (it is 4 years old :O ) and it just suddenly started making loud noises. So I opened up my computer case and noticed that the fan was moving slower and was changing speeds at random times. What should I do?

The noise you are hearing is the fan bearing(s), as they don't last forever and are probably full of fluff and dust. You may be able to pop off the fan and clean it up. If this doesn't work it's unlikely you will be able to get a replacement fan and

As I later described what I saw, I kept thinking of one of those movies.  One of those Cecille B. DeMille epics such as Ben Hur or Moses.  With the teeming people and the rending of clothing and the pushing and the shoving.  That’s what it was like in the Red Rooster.  Fire codes?  Not today, they were quashed, filibustered.  It was an event, a performance.

The favorite son was in town.

Sheila had finished her broadcast.  It had gone well, considering.  Considering that she works on an intellectually challenged highwire and has no net.  Example:  “Governor, that’s a very interesting tie that you have on.”  Milt DeVane:  “Ah … (looks down) yeah, thanks.  As I was sayin’ about my education-reform goals … ”

I didn’t reveal my insight to the police, of course.  I’ll just share it with you; I don’t want my station to look bad.

Anyway, it was busy in the little place.  People were everywhere at any given time.  Tammy and George stopped by my stool. George commanded, “keep up the good work.  Don’t go soft on that Stan White.”

“Oh Georgie,” Tammy cautioned, “leave her be.  You don’t run the newsroom.”

“I sign her paycheck; I should have somethin’ to say.”  He added under his breath, “and I’ll pay a bonus if you can dig up some dirt on that &%$# Graham Stewart–”

“Georgie!”

“What hon?”

“Pay him no mind,” Tammy said to me, lifting an eyebrow.  She took her husband by the hand, “you’re doing a great job.  Listen to Jack, Katie.”

That’s another conversation that I left out when the authorities asked me what happened.  Not because I don’t trust cops, just the opposite.  I trust that they’re human, which means they’ll make mistakes and take the easy way out sometimes.  Set up “fall guys,” cave under political pressure, or botch an investigation now and then.  I also admire them and want them to ‘cuff the bad guys.  But I don’t like to show my cards.  I like to be the one asking the questions.
