My battery in my Chevy Express Van was dead this morning. The battery is less than 2 years old. So I jumped it and it started right up. However, the dashboard voltmeter showing only 9 V not the usual 12-14 so I'm assuming that the alternator is not charging?
I think your right that the alternator has gone out but to be sure I would take it to autozone or a parts store and let them test your charging system to be sure.

We arrived late one evening and after a 2 hour visa que we jumped into a taxi or TAKSI as it was spelled with an old american woman we had met on the plane and headed for Kuta. Drunk Gaz had booked us a cheap hotel, which was lovely an infinity style pool, old chinese/balinesian roofs, air conditioned rooms and brekkie included. We arrived and called him down to meet us, guess what drunk Gaz was well drunk! After an hour or so’s catching up we all passed out, it had been a long day and it was about 3am.
After breakfast we grabbed our boards and entered possibly the most polluted water i have ever been in. There were bags and rappers and peices of plastic floating everywhere, you would duck dive a wave and end up with a crisp packet on your face and a nappy on your shoulder. However the waves were so lus, small but long enough to ride into shore if you pumped. This as i found out was not the best thing to do as the wave broke in about 3inches of water and 2hours in i had a broken board. The boys headed back to the hotel and i jumped on a bike with a local surfer named ‘pablo’ (i put that n inverted commas as the indonesians only actually have four names and pablo aint one of them). Pablo took me on his bike to a ding repair shop where i got my board fixed and sprayed for less than 3pounds!
The next day we hired motorbikes and peaced out to Sanur, 20 minutes away with boards tied alongside. Baz hadn’t ridden a motorbike since he was a child so he went for an automatic with pink writing on it. As gaz and i reached the end of the road baz was still pottering along looking in a state of high concentration much the way a toddler does when tasting mud for the first time, at about 5 miles an hour. We arranged to meet him at the petrol station up the road, turn left at the end we told him, 20 mins later no sign of baz! He had turned right at the end of the road and gone somewhere. Gaz and I cut our losses and carried on towards the craziest dual carriage way around! Bikes and cars weaving in and out of everywhere, it was fun though! No waves at sanur so we headed back to find baz. He was driving around the alley ways near our hotel and had got his confidence up so we drove to the far end of Kuta beach where there was less rubbish and had a surf. That evening we had a night out. We started at a cool little bar with live bands. Later on an amazing cover band came on and did requests. they we uncanny! By the time we left i had got talking to a couple of the band members and they offered us some mushrooms. Gaz had never tried them so i decided i would do them once more with him. The guy went off and returned with 3bags of red liquid. He told us to drink them slowly but we made it to the club really quickly so we decided to down them outside. Once inside he introduced us to his bar keeper friend who proceeded to pour us a couple of the most ping pong tiddly drinks in the nuclear sub. We decided to go for a walk and by the time we had reached the other side of the dance floor they had kicked in. We couldnt stop laughing at everything, particularly baz who didnt take any as his face in Gazs words looked very much like a lego man. We found some armchairs at the bar and sat there for the next four hours laughing and taking it all in. I would sip my drink and then it would pour out of my mouth, so drinks didnt cost anything because we couldnt drink. Baz decided to leave and then Gaz needed a piss so off he went. As soon as he left it felt like i was about to pee myself so i followed drinks in hand. I walked around looking for him for a while in the toilet but soon realised i was in the womens so i ventured into more familiar territory and searched the gents. I looked in each stall for him until i reached the last one, slowly opening the door i peared around and noticed it was empty. I was so surprised, he must have been in there, the others were empty i looked everywhere in there the ceiling the floor checked under the seat nothing! I looked outside fairly worried by this point and a worried Gaz was looking back at me from the bar. We left the club when it closed and were instantly approached by taxi drivers Transport? Transport? No way transport! We started to longest walk ever!
