The filterless air purifier is becoming a big hit for consumers who want to breath clean air but don’t want to buy expensive replacement filters every few months.

One of the more popular air purifiers that is filterless is called the Ionic Pro Air Purifer.

It is said to purifiy air as good as or better than typical units that rely on a HEPA filter.

While the concept of a filterless air purifier sounds interesting, one must wonder exactly how such a machine can clean the air if it doesn’t use a filter.

Well, if you are wondering like me, here is a brief explanation on how the work. One of the better filterless air purifiers on the market are called ionic machines.

An ionic machine is said to be the most effective when it comes to removing dirt and impurities from the air.

It works by a process known as ionizing the air. The easiest way to explain ionizing is that particles and impurities in the air eventually join together and fall to the ground. Once these particles are on the ground, they are no longer airborne, so you won’t breathe them.

A filterless air purifier, like the Ionic Pro, works by trapping these particles and not allowing them back into the air via the units circulation system.

While it is ionizing the air, fans within the unit draw in the particles, trap them, and re-circulate fresh, purified air back into the room.

It goes without saying that the main benefit of using this type of unit is that you don’t have to spend money every couple of months to purchase a replacement filter.

Price wise, these types of machines are reasonably priced when compared to those that use filters. For me personally, I like the idea that once I have paid for the unit, that is all that I will have to buy.

I can still enjoy all of the benefits of breathing purified air without having to worry about spending money in the future to keep the unit running.
